Prof. Raji Abdulgafar Bello

Professor BELLO Raji Abdulgafar was born about sixty-one years ago to the family of Late Chief Raji Olatunji and Alhaja Mariam Gbemisola all of Oyan in Odo Otin Local Government Area, Osun State.

He had his Primary School education at Nawa-ir Deen Primary School, Oyan after which he proceeded to Government Secondary School, Omu Aran in Kwara State where he graduated with flying colour. He attended Kwara State College of Technology for his Higher School Certificate and afterwards proceeded to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria for his B. Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Economics respectively, between 1986 and 2005. He joined the services of the University of Ilorin in 1996 as an Assistant Lecturer and rose to the rank of a full Professor in 2014.

Prof Bello is in Health Economics, he has published widely in the area and in Development related issues in reputable journals locally and internationally and had contributed chapters to different text books. He has been a resource person to both Local and International Organizations in health economic related issues including; FMoH, UNFPA and AERC.

He has served as external examiner at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; project, dissertation, Ph.D. theses examinations and Professorial Promotion Assessment for many universities in the country. He has also occupied and functioned in different administrative positions in and outside his place of primary assignment; Head of department, Board Chairman, Director, and Dean of Postgraduate School in the University.

He is a member of several professional and community associations: Nigeria Health Economics Association; Nigerian Economic Society (Reg. No. 1977); Prevention of Maternal Mortality Network; Rotary International

He is happily married and blessed with children.
